This year we awarded two scholarships, both students attend Cedarcrest High School.

Dear Student,

The Puget Sound Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction is offering a CAD/ Drafting Design Scholarship Competition for 2007-2008. This year’s design problem is an energy efficient dental clinic.    Projects will be judged on your creativity, successful problem solving,  your craftsmanship in using CAD technology or Hand Drafting skills, and your ability to carefully follow the instructions.   All high school students, whether taking a Drafting class or not, are welcome to enter. All NAWIC Education Foundation programs are open to male and female students. 

 The awards at the local level are: 1st place $300, 2nd place $150 and 3rd place $50.   The local winner will be entered in the Regional (five state) Competition.  The awards for the Regional Competition have not been announced.  The Regional Winner will be entered in the National competition where the awards range from $500 to $1500.

If you enjoy this project we are hope you will consider a future in the construction industry as an architect, an engineer, a construction project manager.   There are thousands of careers, small business and management opportunities that require the spatial ability that you have or may develop by working with the skills required for this competition.

Please note two important deadlines: January 11th & February 29, 2008.  The completed application must be returned by January 11th, 2008 or before.  A tracking code number will be provided to you within a week of receipt.  Projects are due by February 29, 2008, not later.
