Our Chapter is a diverse group of professional women in the construction industry who like to keep up with what is happening in our incredible industry. 1. I am interested in becoming a member, what should I do?

2. How do I find out about upcoming meetings, RSVP or get directions?
- Contact the VP for a list of current and upcoming NAWIC events. Also check the home page or calendar of events for up-to-date information and to download the event flyer.
3. What is the history of your chapter? What are other local chapters?
- The NAWIC Puget Sound Chapter is part of Region 9, and was established in 1962. Region 9 was formed by Rosalie Hayward in 1961, beginning with the Portland, Oregon Chapter. The subsequent Region 9 chapters that were chartered are: The Puget Sound (originally Seattle & Bellevue), Washington Chapter in 1962, Eugene, Oregon in 1963, Spokane, Washington in 1967 (note: this chapter is recently disbanded – please contact the Puget Sound Chapter regarding local membership), Tacoma and Tri-Cities, Washington in 1972, Anchorage, Alaska and Salem, Oregon in 1973, the Greater Everett, Washington Chapter in 1975, Great Falls, Montana in 1976, Boise, Idaho in 1978, the Yakima Valley Chapter in Washington in 1979, and the Coos/Douglas Counties Chapter was chartered in 1988 and is based in and around Coos Bay/North Bend, Oregon.Regional activities and links to other chapters can be found by visiting http://www.nawicregion9.org

4. How can I find out about current job openings?
- Job postings are updated often and can be found on our home page by visitinghttp://www.nawicpugetsound.org/job_page.html. If you have a job to post, you may send it to Erin.
Job postings are posted at the Board of Director’s discretion and can be removed at any time. And, as always, attending a membership meeting is an invaluable tool for networking and making new career contacts!
5. I am interested in becoming more involved as a member; what can I do?
- Attend the membership meetings to receive the most current information on happenings of the committees in the NAWIC Puget Sound Chapter! We are always looking for energetic people and welcome new ideas. Feel free to attend a board meeting (generally held 1 hour prior to the membership meeting) & contact any of the officers or board members. Also visit the Officer & Committee page to find out more about each of the committees and volunteering at their activities.
6. I am a student, but there is no chapter of NAWIC at my college; can I attend the Puget Sound Chapter meetings?
- Of course! Students are welcomed and encouraged at the NAWIC meetings. Student prices are always discounted. Also visit the Scholarship page for scholarship opportunities while you are pursuing your degree!
7. I am hesitant to join. What benefits can the NAWIC Puget Sound Chapter offer me?
- Meeting a new group of people can often be scary – but not at NAWIC! We will greet you as you come in the door and introduce you to other members of the organization and make you feel right at home. In addition to the great networking opportunities, educational programs offered each month to our members, and outreach to the community, the Puget Sound Chapter is a great community of women in itself. We offer unmatched support for women in construction, bringing a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and disciplines to the organization from which to draw from and find answers to your questions & concerns!
