Block Kids 2007:

Our fun Lego competition was a huge success this year!

Students from Penny Creek Elementary School in  Everett  & Mt. Pilchuck Elementary in Lake Stevens participated.

Block Kids is administered by the NAWIC Education Foundation. It has grown from a handful of participants to 22,000 children from first to sixth grades, and is hosted throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Block Kids introduces these young students to the many exciting careers in construction and reinforces the academic and technical skills needed across the industry.  In the competition, students are given one hour to build a structure of their choice, using 100 blocks of Legos, foil, string, Styrofoam, rock and poster board. The entrants are judged by industry volunteers on their creativity and attention to detail.

Our members believe the challenge of meeting projected, future work force demands require our current attention at all education levels to promote interest, education and training for careers in the building industry.

This event is not only a lot of fun for both the students and participants, but it also provides the kids with education and exposure to the many talents of a Construction Project Contracting Team --  including the Owner's Representatives, Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Craftspersons, Suppliers, and Professional Service providers.
