Utility Maintenance Worker - Wastewater & Surface Water, City of Bellevue Posting date: 6/27/08

The Utilities Department for the City of Bellevue is currently filling positions in its' Storm and Surface Water Maintenance Section and its' Wastewater Maintenance Section. These are full-time, regular positions with benefits that are represented by a union and are eligible for overtime. Successful candidates will be responsible for performing a wide variety of utility maintenance-related tasks, primarily in a training capacity. Tasks include the repair and maintenance of equipment, facilities, utility lines, etc. Work is often strenuous and repetitive and is performed on the basis of clear instruction or direct supervision.  This is a entry level position and upon successful completion of a training matrix the employee will advance to a Skilled Worker position: Salary Range: $3,392 - $4,263/month

Facilities Maintenance Technician Posting date: 5/16/08

Eastside Domestic Violence Program’s vision is to end domestic violence by changing individual, institutional and societal beliefs, attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate it.  To achieve this, we will work with the community to: PROVIDE services in East & North King County to people, primarily women and children, who have experienced physical, emotional or sexual abuse; PREVENT domestic violence through advocacy, education and support. Overview of Agency:  Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP) is a well respected, growing human service agency providing crisis and shelter services to victims of domestic violence and their children in North and East King County.  EDVP works to prevent domestic violence through education about this issue and provide direct services to victims of domestic violence, who are primarily women and their children.  There are different site locations, with the primary three being My Friend’s Place, My Sister’s Home and the Crisis Service Center.  The other various locations include where our support groups and outside entrance session locations are held that are not owned by EDVP.

Overview of the Position: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and repairs for the agencies buildings and scattered site rental units. This includes the upkeep of the buildings, grounds, appliances, furnishings, office equipment, vehicles and supplies.

Key Responsibilities: Maintain all agency facilities in compliance with fire and health code regulations. Develop and sustain preventative maintenance plans; implement building maintenance and renovation projects.  Troubleshoot and perform general building repairs.   Replace locks and change codes as required.  Test the fire / access security systems.  Sustain a plan that assures the safety and upkeep of the facilities, grounds and vehicles. Work cooperatively with staff as a team and share in housekeeping and operation responsibilities as necessary.  Knowledge of current recycling and hazardous waste policy.   Inspect agency scattered site rental units in accordance with health and safety standards. Assist with move-outs/turn-over of residential apartments including cleaning. Maintain outside vendor and agency department contacts / relationships. Organize inventory, storage and delivery records for office equipment, furnishings, appliances, and related donations.  Assist with distribution of donations and purchases. Supervise volunteers for facility maintenance projects. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager. Attend agency-wide staff meetings as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

I. Minimum Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent.  B.A. degree preferred Ability to lift 75 lbs., climb ladders and work at heights Two (2) years preferred experience in property management and performing minor, general repairs.  Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, security and other building systems. Dependable transportation and valid WA driver’s license. Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence as it relates to women and children.
